  1. is it really that hard to get? I mean, for future use, if he wins, we get a heads up and prepare accordingly and if he loses, we get to know what was averted and then also plan accordingly.

  2. Quite Cool, Adito Sir. Do you also have to say something about Professor. Madhu Kishwar’s book on Modi Ji and Professor and Doctor. Sanjay Kumar’s campaign in favor of Modi Ji on CNN,IBN.
Possibility of this comment coming online is quite little because the world knows they are your colleagues, you will use your ownership rights on this forum forgetting your free speech values.

    1. Manjeetji, please look at my open attack on Madhu Kishwar on this very forum. Don’t think you can get away with misleading statements. Madhu Kishwar draws her salary from an institution, where unfortunately, I too work. We do not belong to the same party. As for your pathetic anti-CSDS petition, you have managed just 10 signatures in almost one month and now you have to ask people to sign anonymously. I do not know who you are and what drives you but at least you should do your homework before embarking on your tirades.
Irfan and Subir, did you even click on the link below? Just try!

      1. Dear Adito Ji. I am not misleading here. I wrote “Your Colleague” not “Same Party”. This is not the correct forum to discuss my petition. Still, because of your statement I would like to bring it to your notice, it’s not Anti-CSDS. It says “CSDS’s mandate is not to use public money to do surveys in tie-up with the main corporate house of this country” mandate is RESEARCH. Since, I am not a part of the cozy club of elites. It is difficult to accept it from me. More, since the time I requested anonymity, signatures are going up. How can anyone from within the club, sign the petition with name? It will be like Modi contesting Rahul. It never happens!
I appreciate CSDS which makes me do it. I attended a teaching course.

        1. Manjeet,
I do not know where you work but I challenge that unless you are running your own shop you will be working with people who are right-wingers/ Modi supporters and so on. When I say I do not belong to the ‘same party’ – that is precisely my point. Only in a party can you get only like-minded people. For the rest, I do not really care.

          1. Respected Adiyo Ji, Stop this habit of painting those as right-winger, who raises a real question or so. Today, CSDS is more in the right than ever before, with Kishwar writing and now interviewing (6Hrs) the right wing darling, Modi. Sanjay Kumar sprinting towards 272 in his sponsored survey and Sanjay Kumar without any written thesis, substantial publication or social intervention SUPERSEDING everyone else to become the Director. This clearly shows who want to be close to the right.

Manjeet does organic farming in Chindwara along with his interest in HUL and Raymonds, at the same time waits for stable electricity/internet connection to be online.

            With Respect,
            Manjeet

  3. That was funny. I am happy to note that you people still haven’t lost your sense of humour in spite of your obsession with selective, vindictive villification of one CM of one state which suffered from unfortunate communal disturbances, just like every other state of India under almost every other CM.

    Jai Hind.

    1. We’re glad to see this appreciation . We are all also tired of trying to explain how this one CM was and remains an autocrat, who unlike other states actually actively ensured those ‘unfortunate communal disturbances ‘ not only took place with active systematic, covert state support, but remained largely unpunished even after twelve years. We are also tired of explaining how ruthlessly and vindictively he curbs dissent, how he’s also ensured that others even in his own right wing communal party cant have a say against him, whose actively brought all media space and has obsessively gone about creating a hype about a feku development project which benefits a selective few. And we’re also tired of the blind obsession of his followers who refuse to see any of this , so beautifully normalising and trivialising all this , without explaining what makes him this hero we should champion against all this criticism. So maybe, we thought, maybe , we might be able to get across with humour, since obviously for others he’s not yet crossed the moral line as what he did does not affect them in their blind self interest .

    2. I was in splits till this comment came bringing in a chill and arresting the laughter- bringing home how we may cry hoarse about why and how with this one CM , India has crossed the moral line http://qz.com/178362/india-crosses-the-moral-line-of-no-return-if-narendra-modi-becomes-prime-minister/ or why the unfortunate communal disturbances were not those that occur in every state under every other cm , why this state and this CM was different – a systematic planned genocide , efficiently executed , all evidence wiped out, hardly any convictions, and a party with an openly communal agenda unlike other parties in other states, openly endorsing ‘hindutva’ still in power after twelve years , and an openly authoritarian CM heading it all and rising to more and more prominence despite it all …..if after all the evidence to the contrary , if even moral outrage which could provide some catharsis in such cases, will be trivialised and dismissed as ‘vindictive vilification’ and ‘selective obsession’ , i’m forced to believe that such beliefs are wilful ignorance …..for we consciously choose not to see, understand and hear ….and perhaps thats even more dangerous …Enjoy the joke meanwhile, because the deepest tragedies often lie behind some of the finest humour. ….and i wont say jai hind, for obviously this hind you are talking about to is only meant for the selectively blind…..

      1. Shalini, I assume you have checked all your facts. And even if I find a few of them questionable, I would agree with you that Modi is not the right person to lead India at this juncture. But election is in sight, and people need to vote for a party. It is difficult to prefer a Casteist Party over a Hindutva Party, although some do. One faces the same dilemma with a Regional Party. The truly secular parties, e.g., CPM (or left front) have lost appeal even in States where they were once popular. The News Media rarely highlights leaders like Karat or Yechuri (my preference) or some other recognizable leftist politician. Unfortunately, even Kafila blogs ignore them. In spite of opportunist minority leaders flocking to BJP, it is not certain that Modi would be elected PM of India. But unless a realistic alternative is in sight, Congress Party and Rahul Gandhi or an odd amalgamation of Casteist and Regional Parties could find favor with people. If it so happens, TMC would see that CPM is out and, may be, others may do the same. In this scenario, one expects Marxist intellectuals to speak for a clean, secular and effective leader (not a Gandhi)in Congress itself who can bring left front on its side. While this strategy may not work this time, it has a potential to be effective in near future. I believe, Modi has been beaten enough by Marxist intellectuals and continuing with that may not bring any additional returns. The minority argument may be used against him even now, but It is no more of a great value for true leftist parties. It is time to tell which leader and party should be supported. Otherwise, the anti-Modi or anti-BJP votes would be divided and thus wasted.

  5. Manjeet ji, aap ko shayad meri angrezi samajh nahin ayee. Main yeh keh raha tha ki ek hi soorat aisee ho sakti hai jisme aap apne sahkarmee chun sakte hain. Voh tab jab aap apni koi dukan chala rahe hon. Agar aap kahin aur bhi kaam karenge to aap ke saath dakshinpanthi hindutvavaadi vagairah honge hi. Isee sandarbh men maine kaha tha ke mujhe maloom nahin aap kahan kaam karte hain. Pata nahin ab bhi apni baat saaf kar paya hoon ki nahin. Taish men aanaa kisee ka bhi janmsiddh adhikar hai. Aap ko bhi taish men aane se main bhala kaise rok sakta hoon.

  6. I opened this link and laughed so much, I thought of posting a comment that Kafila had made my Sunday morning!

Then I went through the comments and was horrified by the sad arguments of those humping for Modi. Why do they even bother to read Kafila? But then again, if they are reading Kafila, it means they see us as a major threat – which we are!..

And then to bring the balance back was that very powerful comment of Shalini above. Yes do read that link she’s posted by Thane Richard. It’s a very powerful piece, but well above the moral standards of the young, upwardly-mobile urban Indian rightwingers who’ve tasted the money and not looked back since…

In Pune, in Goa, in Delhi recently, and now in Chennai, I have been meeting young educated middle class Indians who all support Modi. When you ask why? He will make the economy grow, they answer…

Grow for whom, you ask? For all of us they reply…
