Nagarjun was an avant-garde poet of Resistance in Hindi. His poem, in Tarun Bhartiya‘s translation along with the original, can be read as an obituary 42 years after it was written.

Beck and call Thackeray

All agreeing, how shall we crawl Thackeray

In smart Shiv Sena Uniform – making music hall Thackeray

Devotees will be in thrall Thackeray

Valleys of Sahyadri echo,

shaking all the walls Thackeray

King just wishes, how he should live long Thackeray

Poet shuts up with a fear

how his skin shall boil Thackeray

With his net now spread out

बाल ठाकरे ! बाल ठाकरे!!

कैसे फासिस्टी प्रभुओं की-

गला रहा है दाल ठाकरे !

अबे सम्हल जा, वो आ पहुंचा बाल ठाकरे!

सबने हां की, कौन ना करे!

छिप जा, मत तू उधर ताक रे!

शिवसेना की वर्दी डाटे जमा रहा लय-ताल ठाकरे!

सभी डर गये, बजा रहा है गाल ठाकरे!

अपने भक्तों को कर देगा अब तो मालामाल ठाकरे!

गूंज रही सह्याद्रि घाटियाँ, मचा रहा भूचाल ठाकरे!

मन ही मन कहते राजा जी, जिए भला सौ साल ठाकरे!

चुप है कवि, डरता है शायद खींच नहीं ले खाल ठाकरे!

कौन नहीं फंसता है, देखें, बिछा चुका है जाल ठाकरे!
