The chief architect of Indian constitution Dr. B. R. Ambedkar had declared in 1948 ‘democracy in India is a top-dressing on an Indian soil, which is essentially undemocratic.’ How true this is, even after sixty years of Indian democracy! Why have all the legal provisions, and valiant struggles of dalits to emancipate themselves failed to annihilate Caste system? As the ruling elites of India celebrate their arrival on the world scene, these are the skeletons in the cupboards of their rule they are most ashamed to admit.
Madhya Pradesh, ruled by Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan of the Bhartiya Janata Party, records highest number of atrocities on Scheduled Tribes and ranks second when the question of atrocities against Scheduled Castes are concerned.
With officers like D K Dubey – who have no qualms in insulting dalits – for their ‘personal satisfaction’ still enjoying confidence of the powers that be one can easily understand why the state has consistently maintained top position in case of atrocities on the marginalised are concerned.
Shame on you Mr Dubey.
