De-recognize the BJP!

The BJP has been clamouring for the de-recognition of AAP for its ‘anarchism’ and its lack of faith in institutions put in place by the Constitution, but faced with the sting by Cobrapost on its own responsibility for the Babri Masjid demolition, its only response is that  the Election Commission should stop its broadcast in view of the elections. In its characteristic fashion, the BJP leaders went on to accuse the sting operation of being ‘Congress sponsored’ – looks like this party has even lost the capacity to make a reasonable argument about anything. Meanwhile, all of yesterday the major channels were  dancing tango with the BJP in expressing suspicion about the ‘timing’ of the release. Not one of the channels had anything to say about the content of the sting.

Who is setting the terms of ‘debate’ here?

And why does the BJP want the EC to stop the broadcast? Because now it is clear that even as top BJP leaders and the Kalyan Singh government gave their commitment to the Supreme Court of India that nothing would happen to the mosque, the leaders were planning its demolition. That is what the sting operation shows. It shows, in the words of the actual dramatis personae, how the young recruits were trained by retired military personnel, without  being told what their mission was. The training was conducted in strict secrecy and with the full knowledge of at least some of the BJP bigwigs, the RSS and the Shiv Sena.

And the BJP expects as its right, that this proof of its direct involvement in the pre-meditated attack on the Constitution and the institutions of public life, should be removed from public view. And to cap its sense of the absurd, its spokesperson claim a conspiracy in the sting operation, as if the people on camera were fictitious characters who had been drugged by the Cobrapost editor and made to say things that amounted to an attempt to malign the BJP. (The spokesperson asked the EC to take action “against whoever is behind such a mischievous conspiracy“, according to the TOI report linked below.)

What do the sting tapes say? Here are some extracts from a news report:

A sting operation by investigative website Cobra Post has claimed that Babri Masjid demolition was not a sudden action of the frenzied karsevaks but a meticulously planned operation carried out by trained cadre of right wing groups that include the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) and the Shiv Sena. The operation also claims that senior leaders like Lal Krishna Advani, Kalyan Singh, Bal Thackeray apparently knew about the plan.

According to the sting, the key players of Ayodhya movement like Sakshi Maharaj, Acharya Dharmendra, Uma Bharti, Mahant Vedanti and Vinay Katiyar also knew about the conspiracy. The operation also claimed that former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao was also aware of the planned Babri Masjid demolition.

“The training regime included imparting skills such as climbing taller structures with help of grappling hooks and ropes and digging earth with implements like pickaxes and spades, apart from regular drills and physical exercises.

Traditional implements such as chisels, heavy-duty hammers, pickaxes, spades, sabbals, and other tools were procured in large numbers and put to use on December 6, to pull the disputed structure down. A Balidani Jatha, or suicide squad, was formed with the trained RSS workers,” read the press-release posted at the website.

And here are extracts from another report:

Some of those interviewed were, B L Sharma Prem, Dharmendra Singh Gurjar, Jai Bhagwan Goel, Pawan Pandey, Santosh Dubey, Ramji Gupta, Ramesh Pratap Singh, Sadhavi Ritambhara, Kalyan Singh, Prakash Sharma, Champat Rai Bansal, Satish Pradhan, Mahant Avaidyanath, Moreshwar Save, Lallu Singh, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Swami Nritya Gopal Das.

Their versions make it appear that the plot to demolish the mosque was hatched amid utmost secrecy. Those recruited for training weren’t told their mission till a month ahead of Babri’s fall. At Sarkhej, Gujarat, Bajrang Dal conducted a month-long training in June 1992 for 38 of its cadre from different regions. The trainers were retired high-ranking military officers, while Acharya Giriraj Kishore, Acharya Dharmendra, Praveen Togadia, Jaibhan Paweya and Ashok Singhal held indoctrination sessions.

While the VHP and Bajrang Dal were holding a secret meeting at Ayodhya to plan the Babri assault, Sena leaders too were deliberating on the fate of the shrine in North Avenue. Save and Pradhan, among others, attended the meeting. If everything failed, Sena had a plan B: Dynamite Babri.

Claims Goel: “Humare paas dynamite bhi thha, hum dynamite bhi lekar gaye thhe wahan par agar zaroorat padti usko bhi chala dete iss taiyari se gaye the hum (We were carrying dynamite. If the need arose, we had gone prepared to use it).” In 1990, Sena’s Suresh Baghel had tried this, but his attempt was foiled and he was arrested with 28 dynamite sticks.

Perhaps, then it is time to raise the demand for the de-recognition of the BJP?

Not quite. For political differences, even antagonisms, cannot be dealt with by legal-technical methods. Unlike the BJP, people who have faith in democracy recognize that even fascist ideas need to be fought and defeated in open battle. Raising demands of de-recognition or of lodging complaints against other parties with the EC on the flimsiest of grounds, as the BJP has been doing, only betray a failure of nerve.

The BJP today presents a sorry spectacle of a party that is completely bankrupt politically and devoid of all ethics – both these so eloquently personified by its megalomaniac prime ministerial candidate.

But perhaps those rigged Electronic Voting Machines calibrated to send every vote to the BJP might help?

    Advani plotted Babri demolition: daughter-in-law

Gauri Advani, daughter-in-law of Union Home Minister L K Advani, has alleged before the Liberhan Commission that her father-in-law conspired with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vinay Katiyar to demolish the Babri Masjid.
“Iska kaam kar do… Kya, Babri Masjid ka kalank nahin mit sakta?” Gauri alleged that Advani asked Katiyar in a meeting just before leaving for the rath yatra. Dalitstan Journal, Volume 1, Issue 3 (Dec. 1999)
Did Advani Kill Gandhi? Dinesh Digal
It is clear that L.K.Advani the Baniya, along with A.B.Vajpayee the Brahmin, were fanatic followers of the Hindu supremacist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It is also clear that Nathuram Godse the Brahmin who shot Mahatma Gandhi was a dedicated member of this same organisation. It is also clear that the Mahatma was not an `astik’ Brahminist; his beliefs had sufficient `nastik’ Jain admixture. Indeed, such was the strength of this admixture that Mahatma Gandhi was actually a lower-caste Gujarati convert to Jainism, and not an `astik’ Hindu. That is why the pious `astik’ follower of the Vedas, Nathuram Godse the Brahmin, killed Mahatma Gandhi the Gujurati.
However, Nathuram Godse was not a very brave man. He was also very poor, and lacked the political connections to obtain the weapons necessary to kill Mahatma Gandhi, the `bad’ `nastik’ Jain. So he was helped by two young friends : one, L.K.Advani the Baniya and Atal Bihari Vajpayee the Brahmin. These two ruthless fanatics instigated Nathuram to commit the final assasination, and also supplied him with the weapon to do so. After the act, Pandit Nehru the Brahmin cunningly destroyed all information about these persons’ involvement in order to protect his Brahmin brothers. That is why Vajpayee escaped severe punishment. However, Advani was locked into a jail and sentenced to three-months’ imprisonment for his role in the assasination. This was stated by the respected Bengali leader Mr. Jyoti Basu

    Basu says Advani instigated Godse
Chinsura (West Bengal): West Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu on Friday justified his labelling L.K. Advani a “criminal,” claiming that the BJP leader was sentenced to three months imprisonment for allegedly instigating Nathuram Godse in the Mahatma Gandhi assassination case, a charge the Union home minister dismissed as a “cock and bull story.”
“Why shouldn’t I call him a criminal when, apart from his involvement in the Gandhi assassination case, another case is also pending against him,” Mr Basu said at an election campaign meeting here. Mr Basu alleged that Mr Advani’s “indirect involvement” in the assassination of the father of the nation by RSS worker Nathuram Godse had been established by the legal machinery in the country and his “criminal antecedents” were now public.
When contacted, Mr Advani told PTI “it is a cock and bull story about my involvement in Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination or my having anything to do with Nathuram Godse.”
“It seems the veteran leader is upset at the growing irrelevance of his party to national politics and is losing his balance. I can only pity him,” he added. Asked if he was sentenced to three months imprisonment, the home minister said “not at all.”
Addressing the meeting, Mr Basu said, “Why should not I call him a criminal when, apart from his involvement in the Gandhi assassination case, another case (on the Babri Masjid demolition) is pending against him.” “I had asked Advani once what happened to the ‘other case’ and he said it was still on but no chargesheet had yet been issued against him,” the chief minister said. Criticising Mr Advani’s “rath yatra” as a “gimmick” and squarely blaming him for the Babri Mosque demolition, Mr Basu said while Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had admitted that it was an “act of frustration,” the home minister had never begged pardon for the “shameful act.”
Pandit Vajpayee and L.K.Advani have of course denied any involvement in this killing, because they know their `soft Hindutva’ Brahmin buddies from the Congress have destroyed all evidence of their involvement. Pandit Nehru made sure his Brahmin comrades from the RSS went scot-clean, while only the inner circle of the Godse gang were punished. So good old Veer Savarkar the Brahmin was let off, unpunished, despite his role in the Gandhi killing.
Of course, Advani and Vajpayee are both criminals and mass murderers on a colossal scale. While Pandit Vajpayee masterminded the Babri Masjid demolition and arranged for the subsequent mass murder of thousands of Muslims across South Asia, L.K.Advani took part in much of the killing himself. Both these savarna (high-caste) Hindu bigots are thus mass-exterminators on a grand scale. The assasination of Mahatma Gandhi was only one of a routine series of killings carried out by these fanatic Brahminists.

  2. While the names mentioned in Aditya’s blog seem to indicate that the conspirators belonged to all castes (there is one Goel too), your discovery that only Brahmins and Brahminists commit crimes is quite interesting. I am not sure why you are so kind to Jyoti Basu, a Kuleen (high born) Kayastha. If you are indeed a Goel, may be a Jain, there have been quite a few Jains in RSS and its affiliated organizations. Should these Jains be considered Brahminits? Are you against all Marxist leaders who were Brahmins (Nambooripad a super Brahmin), just because of their caste? Would you support Modi just because he belongs to a very low caste (untouchable in UP)? I met once a Sakshi Ji Maharaj in train, a rapid anti-Brahmin like you, a Hindu monk as well criminal and BJP MP at that time, who was an enthusiastic participant in Babri demolition along with his low caste followers. Should we forgive his crimes just because he was not from an upper caste? What about Uma Bharati, again a low caste!. And you know that most Jains are relatively rich and capitalists. Should we not speak against capitalism just because of Jain Baniyas, and attack even poor Brahmin have-not just because of his caste? Do you know the well known Dalit slogan, ‘ Tilak, Taraju aur Talwar. Unko Maro Jute Char’ which would include even you, me, Mr Nigam and Jyoti Basu, irrespective of our pro-Dalit Marxist approach. I am saddened that your casteist rhetoric got aloowed in this leftist journal. You have side tracked the issue because of your ignorance and narrow mindedness.

  3. The BJP today presents a sorry spectacle of a party that is completely bankrupt politically and devoid of all ethics – both these so eloquently personified by its megalomaniac prime ministerial candidate.

Agree. But it looks like this gang of fascists and their megalomaniac leader will actually be running the next government. We have to thank Congress for delivering the country to the lap of fascists.

Everyday, one after another regional party is striking alliance with them. Their putative opponents in regional parties, left parties, congress are giving a totally dispirited performance. And many of them will given the first opportunity support BJP government for whatever corrupt gains.

Only AAP is giving a good fight. But not sure how effective they are going to be in stopping BJP. And it appears they are limited to Urban areas.

India may be nearing a phase which happens periodically in Western countries. That of rightwing consolidation to strangle all dissidence in Society. Many Indians seem to believe Modi will establish a fascist republic on the lines of Hitler. But the more likely outcome is probably a rightwing consolidation and rooting out of all effective dissent and making the elite rule safe for another generation. Just like it has happened for so many times in US, ( Woodrow Wilson’s red hunts during first world war, The Red scare McCarthyite attacks on Labor and left after second world war, etc. , Spain under Franco etc ).

  4. While everything you claim might well be true, it is very hard to convince people about the validity of these claims without any other hard corroborating evidence. It might have been more believable if the tapes had some top leaders like Advani himself or even Uma bharti making statements like the one attributed to Mr. Goel. If you have met any of these fundamentalists like Katiyar or Goel, you would know that making tall claims about their “importance” is a part of their image building exercise. The tapes themselves are actually not that persuasive but maybe enough to initiate yet another investigation of the whole sequence of events.

  5. Reblogged this on Ho-Hum and commented:
It is only apt that BJP stick to it’s roots after all. Now that we see (Duh!) Amit Shah spew crap with the backing of the state and will probably get away with it in a while it is not surprising to see BJP becoming a very obvious political arm of the RSS. What is surprising though is the fact that even during the election season people for the “Modi Sarkar” chant are becoming more shameless in their verbal banter.
I thought that perhaps the election season will make them “politically correct” but I was wrong obviously. With the extended media in the pockets of the villains and the hate propagandists arming themselves with venom the fear of a backlash is also gone.
Perhaps the rigged machines give them the strength!
