Kapil Sibal is an Idiot

I urge you to write KAPIL SIBAL IS AN IDIOT as your Facebook status message, use the hashtag #IdiotKapilSibal on Twitter, and write a blog post with the above title, because there may soon be a day when he may prevent you from doing so.

The New York Times reports:

The Indian government has asked Internet companies and social media sites like Facebook to prescreen user content from India and to remove disparaging, inflammatory or defamatory content before it goes online, three executives in the information technology industry say.

Top officials from the Indian units of Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Facebook are meeting with Kapil Sibal, India’s acting telecommunications minister, on Monday afternoon to discuss the issue, say two executives of Internet companies. The executives asked not to be identified because they are not authorized to speak to the media on the issue.

About six weeks ago, Mr. Sibal called legal representatives from the top Internet service providers and Facebook into his New Delhi office, said one of the executives who was briefed on the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr. Sibal showed attendees a Facebook page that maligned the Congress Party’s president, Sonia Gandhi.  “This is unacceptable,” he told attendees, the executive said, and he asked them to find a way to monitor what is posted on their sites. [Link]

Medianama has a detailed analysis that tries to reason with the unreasonable Mr Sibal. Nikhil Pahwa notes:

The Indian government needs to have a more realistic approach to the Internet.

We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again – there is a dangerous trend that has emerged over the last year and a half, of the Indian government trying to monitor, identify and block digital (online and mobile) communications, and increasingly there is paranoia over their lack of control over the digital space. [Link]

No laws are needed. This country is Kapil Sibal’s personal property. He can just summon Facebook officials to his office and ask, “What is this?” No prizes for guessing why this has come in a year where his government’s popularity took a nose-dive. If you are as outraged as I am, please do this to register our collective protest:

  • Write “Kapil Sibal is an idiot” as your Facebook status message.
  • Use the hashtag #IdiotKapilSibal on Twitter.
  • Write a blog post with the title “Kapil Sibal is an idiot”.

Down with censorship! Down with the arrogance of the Kangress Party!

  1. Democracy weeps! I honestly thought this was a joke when I first read this. Will definitely put up the status.

    1. The internet or the social media is definitely not his nanny’s property!! Its a global tool where everyone can voice their concerns or can even lambast any dirty politics.

      1. “India was never a democracy…never”, I totally agree with this. Sandy just elections are happening doesn’t make it a democracy.
        1) Jawahar Lal Nehru : First prime of India. In Congress everyone (12 or 13 out of 14 regions head at that time) voted for Sardar Patel to be first prime minister. But Mahatma Gandhi dictated that Nehru should be first prime minister and dictatorship won.
        2) Indira pseudo Gandhi: King’s daughter became prime minister.
        3) Rajiv pseudo Gandhi: Queen’s son became prime minister.
        4) Sonia pseudo Gandhi: King’s wife. She didn’t became prime minister due to her Italy citizenship (check subhramanyam swami links and talks for more info in this) but she is our virtual prime minister.
        5) Raul/Rahul pseudo Gandhi: Qeen’s son. Our future prime minister.
        6) RTI activists are killed regularly by this politician/gundas, this is not democracy.
        7) Comman man fears to go to police (public servant) for any help, this is not democracy.
        8) Comman man is looted by these politicians again and again, and yet no top leader is in jail, this is not democracy.

Whether they are becoming prime ministers due to our indian mentality of liking kings/Queens rule or any other reasons but we are living in a pseudo Gandhi kingdom.

I don’t know what is your definition of democracy. I know only one definition which I learnt in my civics books in school which is “government by the people, of the people, for the people”.
But what I see is “government by the pseudo gandhis, of the pseudo gandhis and for the pseudo gandhis”.

      2. ohh bhaiya…..its a democracy in which first u people use to give the vote to a wrong party/candidate or may be do not vote….and now when wrong things happens then try to curse the leaders…..always remember, this is a democracy and we have elected those leaders then why do we blame them……its we all who are responsible for all this coz people of india that means you people itself have elected them………,the great peoples of india (lol) itself have elected congress twice this time…….today, we all r blaming each other without looking our own sin……….its not our democracy who is responsible but its our citizens that means you people who r responsible for the sin of india…….its very ridiculous and shameful to blame indian democracy…….those who blame indian democracy are all traitors and must be shooted down……
It is very true that Congress Party is totally responsible for all the sins of india and if you really think that they are (Congress) responsile for the misfortune of india then in 2014 loksabha elections make use of ur vote…..this will make you a better citizen of india…..Jai Hind

    1. That way India was never a political entity as we see it today. It is only some people have succeeded in misleading the people of diverse opinions and backgrounds. Why did Gandhi advocate for Nehru against Patel? Why did Nehru get afraid of Potti Sriramullu’s suicide and created linguistic states? Why did Nehru side with the Communists after the Indo-China war in 1962 when the Congress had absolute majority in the Parliament? Why did Nehru tolerate the inflated TA bill of an Indian ICS officer? Could the country be the same if Gandhi had himself wielded the political power? We are a nation of lost oppertunities by opting for short-cuts and appeasements. While I agree with Omar Abdullah that the country should show some guts while dealing with China but that is only a half statement. Our political leadership should show some grit on the issues that devalue our sovereignity instead of chasing the followers of Baba Ramdev at midnight.

  2. Sibal despite his legal training demonstrates very poor understanding of libel law. To determine whether a written sentence is defamatory or not requires a competent Court to evaluate the full facts and context of the statement, its truth and falsehood, as well as what imputations a “reasonable person” can draw from the sentence.

While I fully appreciate that no automated technology can do this well today (had it been the case, we might as well have had automated Courts replacing the human judges!) it is also impossible for employees of Facebook or Google or Microsoft to be able to do that, short of playing God or throwing dice ! Even though Sibal may be angry that his dear leader has been run down by a Facebook user, the anger should not be directed to service provider companies. This is wide off the target !

    Wake up and read this

    1. Absolutely correct. But who is going to drill some sense in these nut cases like Sibbal.I thought he is one of the better lot in congress.

      1. Now Malay Deb you are kidding, kapil Sibbal is one of the biggest nuts in congress, he is just an advocate who wants to control everything using his arguments…….and you must be knowing most of the time advocates gives most rubbishly stupid execuses and reasons for some things.

  3. Kapil Sibal and his party seem to be very much perturbed on dirty messages and dirty photos of Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Rahul, Digvijay Singh and other prominent leaders displayed on social networking sites like Facebook. Now Kapil Sibal on behalf of ruling Congress party is trying to build pressure on CEOs and important officials of Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo etc to censor news pertaining to Sonia Gandhi and other leaders. But these officials have refused to accept the request made by Kapil Sibal taking plea that they cannot encroach upon fundamental right of Freedom of speech granted to citizens.

This is news published in Newyork times. Crores of users are submitting billions of messages and photo daily on these sites and hence it is very much difficult to have control on the same.

As such Kapil is now trying to tight the screws of these social networking sites so that they may stop allowing criticism against their leaders. This is freedom of speech or democracy as preached by Kapil and his mentor Sonia Gandhi. Government is contemplating of introducing internet censorship. Of course the idea is good provided it is not used only for safeguarding prominent leaders of his party but for safety and security of the Nation.

It is ironical that learned advocate Sri Kapil Sibal is worried about comments made on FB against Sonia Gandhi and other leaders of Congress Party who are scam master and who act against the spirit of common men but Mr. Sibal is not worried about terror activities going on in the country through these social networking sites. Naxals, Maoist, foreign based terrorist are openly using FB to spread their dirty network. FB is openly used for spreading anti national message. There is no control on users and neither has it seems to be practically possible.

Learned advocate Sri Sibal is not worried about sharp fall taking place in cultural values in children due to misuse of FB like social networking sites. He is not aware how children of modern era are going away from study and spoiling their precious time on FB. He is perhaps not aware that even staffs in government offices are busy in chatting on FB even during office hours. The great flatterer is worried because dirty pictures of his colleagues in Congress Party are displayed on these social networking sites. He is not worried for the fact that even defense secrets are leaked to enemy nations through internet hacking only.

I intend to request our leaders like Kapil to discard flattery and perform fully in the interest of the country without any bias towards opposition parties or Team Anna or Ramdeo if their suggestions are in the interest of the country. Government is made by the people, for the people and of the people of India, but unfortunately Kapil is using the government powers as if Government is of the ministers, by the ministers and for the ministers.

    1. wonderful post…couldn’t more agree with it…as you said it only seems like ‘of the ministers, by the ministers, for the ministers’. If this is actually implemented then we are deprived of our fundamental right and that would be the end of democracy and would be called a BLACK DAY.

  4. would kapil sibal be saying the same if the banter was against Narendra Modi? somebody should ask? we thought this was democracy? what is he? …. a politician or a cizen. or a mere party representative.. or the speech boss of the nation?

    1. He is one of the jokers who is always trying to please the ‘High Command’. He messed up during the Anna movement but has not learned his lesson.

  5. What is also a problem is the complicity by choice or by coercion of these social networking sites. Will they disclose requests for ‘takedowns’? Or will they just delete accounts, per terms of service, and provide private information?

I know that Twitter chose to publicly fight secret such requests by the US government. Will anyone else do the same here? Will the weak protection of law and strong influence of politics in India force them not to?

    1. No you don’t, unless you are in United F*** States…..India is a socialist republic under constitution signed on Jan 26 1950.

Kapil sibbal is Idiot because idiots like you voted him and his party in power. Alternative you have is even bigger idiots Left, BJP and all.

In short you are fcuked and screwed for next 1000 years.

    2. Dear Indian internet users,
I hope this incident serves as a wake up call.
To wit: Despite what you may think, we do NOT have any US First Amendment style unconditional constitutional guarantee of free speech.
Article 19 of the constitution conveniently has a ‘conditions apply’ clause that adds exceptions for, among other things, ‘public decency and morality’ and ‘public order’. That has been used as a catch all for censorship, since all that anyone has to do is to start rioting or protesting hysterically for the government to ban something citing that it ‘hurts sentiments’.

Unless we root for the unrevokable right to complete, unanimous, guaranteed free speech as a constitutional amendment, dumbasses like Sibal will continue to trample on personal liberty.

  6. I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations. ~James Madison, speech, Virginia Convention, 1788

  7. Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves. ~D.H. Lawrence

  8. Many politicians are in the habit of laying it down as a self-evident proposition that no people ought to be free till they are fit to use their freedom. The maxim is worthy of the fool in the old story who resolved not to go into the water till he had learned to swim. ~Thomas Macaulay

  9. There Used to be a joke about the Former Premier of the erstwhile USSR the joke ran as follows

A Drunkard wrote “Khrushchev is a Mad Man” on the wall of the Kremlin Palace
He was caught by the police as he was painstakingly completing the last stroke in the act.
He was produced in court for 6 months and 20 years.

why the six months? for dirtying the walls of Kremlin
and the 20 years ? for leaking a state secret?

Call KS an Idiot and you are up against the Indian State
and the Indian State is the Fountain Head of Idiocy.

    1. You made a mistake. It should be:

      int i;
      printf(“Kapil Sibal In An Idiot”);

Why to waste negative values of the integer? Print it with every pass to the loop. No breathing space allowed for Idiots…!!!

    2. You could have used while(1)
No need to use and extra variable! Moreover this loop is not an infinite loop. There is a bug in it.

:) Just passing time.. don’t mind.

  10. I was going to put it as my status on fb, but then reflected… if I do it, Kapil Sibal won’t send goons to my home. Bal Thackeray, on the other hand…

This is not to condone Sibal. But I doubt he (or the Congress party) are the biggest threats to our democracy.

  11. And by the way, his real idiocy is not displayed here, though his megalomania is. His idiocy is displayed most eloquently in the higher education, especially university sector. In a matter of a year he has turned our best academics into robots, degraded the university into shitpots of sibalism!!!

    1. Hello Mr. Nigam,

We all know that Sibal has been screwing the higher education sector of this country. As is expected, this is not even a blip on mainstream media’s radar. It will be great if we can have some thoughful and insightful articles on this subject on Kafila.

  12. I agree with Mr Sibal. I suggest he also calls up all mobile phone servcie providers and ask them to pre-screen all sms-s sent to check whether they contain any derogatory remarks about Sonia and Rahul

  13. This is fucking bull shit…who the hell categorizes content as good or bad…DUMB MOFO’s

  14. बड़ा free time है सिब्बल जी के पास जो वो Facebook पर सोनिया जी के photos ढूंढते रहते हैं :)

  15. I do no think Kapil Sibal would bother being maligned on the internet, given that Congressmen have never had much self-respect of their own. Like all Congress stooges, the issue here is about maligning their queen Sonia Gandhi or the prince Rahul Gandhi. So ideally, the form of dissent would be to post “Sonia Gandhi (or Rahul Gandhi) is an idiot” and hope that it isn’t censored or goons aren’t sent after you.

  16. KAPIL SIBBAL IS AN IDIOT..I AGREE. hell with you Mr. Kapila sibbal..you haven’t learned your lesson yet….in that case, we have to make you learn that.

  17. What’s so wrong in Mr Kabil maharaj asking to control any posting on his GODs. GOD’s can do anything, everyday they can do 2G, 3G, 4G scams etc etc. But why its getting posted in facebook. Too bad.

Mr Kapil Sibal is an Idiot !!

  18. Soon there will be a new law introduced in this country that if there are two or more persons talking to each other, it will be mandatory to pre-screen their words. If the words are against Sonia, Rahul, Diggy or MMS, they will not be allowed to be passed to listeners. According to Indian Telecom Miniter, the law is just a solution to check offensive words, not censorship :)

  19. not only kapil sibal most of the indian politicians specially congress men are intelligent idiots

    1. Kapil Sibbal is not our dad and looks like he has lot of “respect” OUR DEMOCRACY AND FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION…coming on to the gay thing, no kid will turn gay reading comic strips..
I think you are just going against the motion to get attention..

    2. WTF are you saying “gay people should not be seen by children”. what about the children gay people adopt? Gay people are people like you and me! You moron! a lot of gay people have achieved what you may never so How about you listen up, you are not okay with burqa system so yeah “im not supporting that” but you don’t like gay people so “OMG”! Kuch bhi! We as Indians need to grow. Be acceptable of others and don’t judge them right away. Being gay does nothing to change a person as a person!

Also, stop shouting and switch off your caps lock.

    3. Too long, didn’t read, especially because of the all-caps.
In any case, the first line sounds like one of a congress-apologist/troll, so not missing anything much.

    4. Try to put a cartoon of Madamji and see what happens to your career now.. u wld be left to draw cartoon of your own for lifetime :P

    5. @Tamaya Tyagi (since you are an intellectual u’ll understand better)

To your comment, I remember one of the greatest speeches by Charlie Chaplin from the Great Dictator.

“Soldiers! Don’t give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you and enslave you; who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel! Who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder! Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men—machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have a love of humanity in your hearts! You don’t hate! Only the unloved hate; the unloved and the unnatural.

      Please read more at –

  21. Why Kapil Sibbal, Sonia & Rahul are in politics if they can bear the frustration of people? People will talk if they are in power. Nobody talks anything about a Rickshaw wala. They should not be in politics.

  22. i hate the messenger but not the message. we need to respect personal life of sonia from the public life of sonia… ad hominem is a fallacy never to forget that… morphed munni badnaam hui with ramdev and sonia?? dude thats really sad and sick…. those who say it happens all over the world and specially america: get out of west reverential attitude…its not really a beacon of democracy…

  23. Please don’t humiliate an Idiot by comparing with Kapil. This F_c_e_ thinks congress govt owns India.

  25. Presumably, hate speech is what bothers Mr. Sibal. Fair enough. Many other societies are also concerned about this and have put hate speech laws in place. However, such laws work by punishing the perpetrator *after* the crime has taken place. There is a case going on right now in the UK: see here.

What Mr. Sibal wants is to vet the contents of articles and blogs before publication. There is a name for this: censorship. It is amazing that Mr. Sibal — a lawyer apparently — fails to recognize this and persists in claiming that he does not want censorship. Idiot is too kind a word for him.

At any rate, why is he involved in this? This is a question of law and not communications and the minister in charge of law matters is Salman Khurshid. Why is Mr. Sibal doing Mr. Khurshid’s job? Has Mr. Khurshid asked him to deal with this issue?

As a side note, this is typical of the way the Government of India functions. Everyone seems to think that everything is their responsibility. A few years ago, I remember Mr. Laloo Yadav, saying — while introduced the so-called Garib Raths — that this was to help the poor. I felt like telling him that it was not his duty to “help the poor.” He was the Railways minister and not the social welfare minister.

The only result of everyone thinking that everything is their responsibility is policy confusion. It was vividly illustrated for me when a couple of years back, I took a trip (Delhi-Chennai) on the Garib Rath. I decided to see how many garibs I could find among the passengers in my compartment. As expected, I didn’t see even one.

  26. I dont mind if they monitor the web.
now i write ‘kapil sibal is an Idiot’ afterwards i will write ‘kapil sibal is an idi*t ‘ ,
beat this and monitor this. LOL
As per human psycology we just read 1st few alphabets of the word and get the rest and i believe tht no douche bag sits on net who will not get ‘Idi*t’ , Stup*d, F*cker, etc. Mobile keypads dont have fuck in there T9 dictionary , but we write it, right!!

  27. Sibalism is a new word
    Sibalism = arrogant
    Sibalism = foolish
    Sibalism = boot licking

    In different contexts

  28. Kapil has moved from zero loss(in 2G) to zero tolerance to criticism soaked in arrogance which is his party’s culture.

  29. Mr. Sibal – In case you’ve forgotten “FREEDOM of SPEECH and EXPRESSION” is a “FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT” of all citizens of India.

  30. This is a fuckin joke! It is completely unconstitutional and I’m surprised no one has contested this in court. Where the f*uck is freedom of speech? Congress is turning democracy into communism! People have the right to express what they feel. This is a corner stone of our democracy. Fuck you congress! Jobless inbiciles, you cant pass the lokpal bill. Instead you do this! What a fuckin shame. People beat the shit out of congress and destroy them in the next election! Teach those bastards a lesson, not to mess with the people!

  31. Karl Marx never used facebook, neither Gandhiji, but still their thoughts spread across the world.
Banning the medium will not kill the thoughts…..!

Although I enjoyed his talk while he was here in Berkeley as the Education Minister last year 2010. I remembered it so well that he mentioned “democracy” several times saying “It’s very very difficult that India gets to this stage” and “very very cherish-able that India has democracy, that gives hope to everyone”.

I wrote down what he said (about democracy) word by word in my blog.

Now tell me this, did he just use the concept “democracy” to put up a show for his political life?

Does he really understand what “democracy” means? What really makes India different from China?

You want to learn internet censorship? Well, welcome to China!

  34. Well, I think that there are several serious issues which need our honourable telecom minister’s attention.. false id’s being used for communication, hacking of important government mails, etc being some of them. So, I request that the government uses its energy in handling such important issues in the country rather than taking action on what the people are saying about the government on social networking sites and accusing them of trying to malign the government’s public image. Mr. Sibbal, the citizens of India are pretty intelligent to decide what is true and what is nonsense. So, kindly divert your attention and your ‘precious’ time in looking into other more important matters… You cannot stop people from expressing their views about the government… If you are facing problems and are not able to run the government properly, you should atleast be courteous in listening to the public’s view… It is afterall their right to express their views on the government and not a insult though I agree that it may be a threat to your govenment. Kindly try to improve things rather than looking for ways to shut people’s voices if you actually want them to refrain from speaking ill about the government. Kindly remember that in the true the sense, ‘Government is of the people, by the people and for the people.’

  35. I don’t agree that Mr Sibal does not have the right to argue his case. And perhaps some of the content may be worthy of removal! However, his method of doing so smacks of old school Government and media control tactics – http://j.mp/tdnKiR

  36. This populous stand, displays a very immature and pre meditated stand on this policy. The governement merely asked of ways to remove infringing data. This notification dated 11 April(which I am sure known of you have read) by the ministry talk about an array of material and not only defamatory material. The law prohibits obscenity, profanity, defamatory material and cpyright infringing material. This meeting was not about the infringing article about the Congress. It was about 255 other things as well. I like how every one has blown up just one of those things.
The minister does not ask the people not to criticize the governement that is your right. But he wants a method in place that checks profanne criticism.
The best argument I see here is “it is against democracy” Let me remind you this has nothing to do with democracy. This is to do with a right under Article 19 of the constitution. This right is under check by the laws in place, which put a limit on obscenity, profanity and defamatory material. Defamation is a crime punishable by law with a 2 year improsonment.
The minister did not lay down a new law but is merely finding ways to enforce those inplace.
I would urge all of you to have a deeper understanding of the subjct before you take up these extrme views

  37. One crazy idea after another. This love for China is getting absurd.

  38. Mr.minister..you are forgetting that Article 19 says: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression, this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”

so,are you actually afraid that, people will turn against the government for corruption and all..:p

  39. I just noticed that there is a huge uproar, albeit online, about Mr.Kapil Sibal’s need/requirement to have all social networking sites censored. Given that he, being a lawyer, has forgotten Article 19 and has provoked a nation should he not be charged under IPC 153, 153 and 153B primarily with a bunch of other laws?? #IdiotKapilSibal

  40. lol! Tell them its India not Russia! even Russians are considerate enough to not to do so!
what the hell is wrong with these people!!! one thing ‘GROW UP’

  41. Kapil sibal sat on a wall,
    Trying to stop the calls,
    That made Sonia look small,
But F.B. refused to play ball,
Now Kapil will take the fall’,
so that his queen will look tall.

  42. What a silly way to prevent people from voicing their opinion. The more such rules come out the more innovative people are going to become.Mr Minister! How about coming out with some pro people policies for a change.

  43. So long has India been under Kings and Queens – that we have completely lost clues ot all ideologies (democracy, for one) and only try to stick to idol worships – in either inanimate or animate forms, including humans.

Mr Sibal cannot be called an idiot – its just that he has fallen for this thousand year old practice and trying to introduce the Indian version of “Lesse Majeste” (http://goseasia.about.com/od/thaipeopleculture/a/lesemajeste.htm) for HIS idols (King and/or Queen).

  44. I think its time Kapil Sibal should resign, already people are frustrated by the morons who are politicians playing with the states and country, and here we have the king of morons, with pathetic ideology and thinking. shame on you kapil sibal.

  45. i will defend my right to criticise any government at any place of my choosing. whether it is FB or jantar mantar or a TV studio or in Parliament or elsewhere. and i hope everybody else feels the same way too.

  46. freedom of expression should never be interfered independent of time. people come and go. but the land and nation remains for ever as long as human race continues.it is the ignorance of the people that leads to the cunning people to capitalize and rule. but the time sets the things in order as and when it requires. the problem is that the leader is not honest in action as in expression at the situation, the persons in the power can not take themselves granted that they are the authority to represent the pains etc of the people. each individual has a way to express the pain or anything in his own way. whatever is the order for one leader at some time is not what it is for another person. finally the leader or the so called ruler is not a nation but an individual finally. alas the nation…..!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????

  47. How we can censer Kapil Sibal? Let us make it sure that in very near future there will be a general election & I pray it is soon by bringing a no-fonfidence motion against the present Govt. But who will take over the power in this country? Are they reliable? Will they be better than UPS-II?

  48. K. Sibal may not be an Idiot but he think he is a unique person with lots of intelligence, he is self proclaimed egoiest & he is incurable unless he is thrown out by outbidding in an election. But our general mass are pigs with no brain in proper place & Sibal will be safe again if there is an election in the country.

  49. It is not only Kapil but almost all of the Deshi English ministers have proved at least their political idiocy beyond doubt. Mere knoeledge of the book may help in court in Doon and Bhoon School debates but not in real Indian politics.

  50. I do not intend to play Devil’s advocate for the sake of it .. I agree with Kapil Sibal on this view of his.. i have personally seen many obscene and provocative pages on facebook. So much so that they could very well be held as perpetrators of riots of serious nature. I may not be in the majority when i say this but freedom of expression doen’t mean you go on to display acts of blatant blasphemy or even bigotry in some cases. To create pages like “F*** India” or even “Pakistan S*****” is just not acceptable. Also, certain pages containing graphic depictions of Holy figures(for some may be not for all) in ridiculously intolerant and absurd ways just doesn’t do the spirit of freedom of expression any justice.

    1. Couldn’t you not go to such web sites ? I assume that you are an adult, Mr Gopalakrishnan?

  51. There is enough proof of Such character who is against the good and honest majority pf people, we can clearly identify the bad characters in Indian Politics, there is grave danger not only to India but the world around us, these are the culprits that the world is going to get face, these people create lot of Problems all over the people the world around, we are being hijacked by some means like if we don,t bow down then your Currency value will go down, if you don’t bow down you will not get food, if you don’t bow down then there will be blast, if you don’t bow down then there will be riots, if you don’t bow etc down then we will buy votes with money, if you don’t bow down then we sanctions,

  52. Again, this article did not ignite enough reasoning in my mind or could educate me, of why Kapil Sibal is an idiot.

Though I am not a supporter of Internet or any censorship, I could not agree with what you wanted me to pick up.

Yeah! I do agree that Kapil Sibal is an Idiot.

  53. A German group is trying to solve this problem by advanced communication in space:

There is no point in trying to educate Kapil Sibal or anybody else. The German solution will probably work but it will take another ten years ! Meanwhile a law is needed for “Right to Recall” your elected representative.

  54. We should email the honorable minister requesting his permission before we post anything on the net

  55. On a more serious note, Kapil Sibal is NOT an idiot. Far from it. The biggest mistake that we – those who cherish our freedom of expression – can make is to dismiss Sibal and his ilk as idiots, and underestimate what they can do with their power. Sibal is an extremely shred politician who knows exactly which side of the bread is buttered. And the biggest fear is that he has the means to enforce what he wants. Facebook, Google and other such such corporations have their business interests to protect – and there is no reason to doubt that they might “fall in line” if they feel that their interests are threatened enough. Look at what happened in China, or in some of the middle-eastern countries.

Sibal wants the social networking sites not to be critical of the great Soniaji or her brood, or of the Congress. And the next thing you know is that there are a slew of obscenity and comunalism-related court cases against those sites. Are we so stupid that we can’t see a pattern in this?

  56. unexpected matters between india and bangladesh like simanta and water allocation, should find a solution short time? we love indian and india since they help us independent war and help today too, but when indian BSF killed our general people it is painful for us, we want find out it’s solution within short time.

  57. Kapil Sibal already had us(students) hating him due to the new CCE system, but now, this is a bit too much, and as a student+internet user, I protest. You cannot censor the internet.
Also, You can censor 100m+ internet users of india, and not 28lakh Group C bureaucrats.
    Quoting my poem,

“Is the new maths, the new information,

Lets us protest against it, if we may,

Let’s make this an anti CCE day,

And a line in hindi if we may,

Kapil Sibal ko keeden paden(कीड़ें पड़ें )!!!”(view complete poem http://404fatalerror.wordpress.com/2011/12/22/ce-poem/ )
