You Fill in the Rest: Dilip D’Souza on the Godhra verdict

Guest post by DILIP D’SOUZA

Here’s a crime: February 27 2002, 59 people killed when a train is set on fire in Godhra. 90+ people are arrested and accused of the slaughter. Bail is denied to them all. The trial takes nine years, the trial verdict acquits 63 of them, finds the other 31 guilty. The judge sentences 11 of those 31 to death, the other 20 to life in prison.

Here’s another crime: February 28 2002 (the next day), 69 people killed when a building called Gulberg Society is set on fire and its residents attacked in Ahmedabad.

You fill in the rest. How many arrested and accused of this slaughter? How many denied bail? How long does the trial take? How many are acquitted? How many are found guilty? How many are sentenced to anything at all?

I’m not saying I agree with the verdict or the death sentence. That’s an argument for another time. What I am saying is, take a look at these two crimes, then fill in the rest.

When you’re done, or when you give up, ask this question: if we can find, arrest, try and punish the men who attacked a train and killed its passengers, how is that we will not find, arrest, try and punish the men who attacked a building and killed its residents?

And then try some more.

Here’s a third crime: November 1984, 3000 people killed in Delhi.

You fill in the rest. How many arrested and accused of this slaughter? How many denied bail? How long does the trial take? How many are acquitted? How many are found guilty? How many are sentenced to anything at all?

Here’s a fourth crime: December 1992 and January 1993, 1000 people killed in Bombay.

You fill in the rest. How many arrested and accused of this slaughter? How many denied bail? How long does the trial take? How many are acquitted? How many are found guilty? How many are sentenced to anything at all?

Now tell me, how do you explain this in your own mind? How do you rationalize this? How do you persuade yourself that justice has been done?

  1. Oh come on Dilip,

The accused for the Godhra fire were tried under POTA. They were terrorists. Do you understand that word? T-E-R-R-O-R-I-S-T-S!

The others were not terrorists. Just your average joe venting his anger, opposing the action, testing Newton, showing mardaangi, ex creta ex creta..

The first were non-minorities who vented themselves after the train was set afire.

The second were non-minorities who vented themselves after the PM was killed.

The third and fourth were non-minorities who vented themselves because of a Timurid who came to UP some 450+ years ago and destroyed the birth place of someone born 9,00,000 years ago. And add to that the frustration at Shah Bano being denied her rights by one of those appeasers.

They were only venting their anger, which is different from terrorism, which should be dealt with an iron hand (preferably an non-Congress one).

“Governments are not arresting these saffron terrorists, even if they arrest a few on some occasions, are setting them free declaring innocent by not conducting thorough probe” – Who said that?
The CPI (Maoist). Or as I like to call them CPI (Terrorist). Same to same!

And you sound just like them. In fact you’re raising the same questions! Oh my … you are a Maoist, aren’t you? You China-lover!

What’s with the minorities of this country? Some love Pakistan, while others like some Chinese guy. They even name their organizations after him! At least the Muslims don’t have a party with the name Jinnah in it.

So Dilip, nice try there. Get your facts straight! Yeah, the facts! Where is the evidence?

You probably watch only sickular NDTV and that sickularer CNN-IBN!

There is still time. You can change.

    A peace-loving Indian :)

    1. Since we all simply love getting our facts straight…

The persons accused of burning the Sabarmati Express were not tried under POTA, POTA sections were removed by the POTA Review Committee that found that the evidence on record did not disclose sufficient reason for the application of POTA, an order which was then confirmed by a Divison Bench of the Gujarat High Court.

    1. With the presence of Left-Wing, Terrorist-Wing Gandoos like you, who requires anybody else. Nice try with this shit job of a website. Real Entertainment. Must be funded by Teesta Setalwad and her secular lovers with green underwears and nothing to hide beneath them….

  2. Gulberg Society people were killed by hindus , Minorities and dalits know that they would not get justice in hindu India because Police,Medias,Judiciory, all are protecting their Hindu clans.150 hindus are having Swiss bank accounts but Supreme court asked for hassan ali ,what a shame for Indian government.RSS has been involved in terrorist activity in India but can not be banned because BJP and other Hindu terrorist organisation will get upset. I think 160 million dalits and 120 million muslims should down load 198 methods of non violent protest and persuation by Gene Sharp and filled the Indian cities against the Hindus and their hindu led government in India.
